Lowell Wrestling practice begins Tuesday, Oct. 11, 3:45 PM in the cafeteria.
Wrestling is a sport on a lot of students know of or have misconceptions about. So-called “professional” wrestling is not wrestling. Wrestling is one of the oldest sports and an original Olympic sport. It is the hardest amateur sport in high school athletics requiring superior physical conditioning, heart, and discipline to be successful in.
It doesn’t matter how big or small you are. We have 14 weight classes starting at 106 pounds and going through 285 pound. It doesn’t matter if you are a girl or boy as there are both girls and boys tournaments and state tournaments. It doesn’t matter if you have never wrestled or have even done a sport before. All that matters is that you have the desire to learn; be in the best physical shape of your life; have the the desire to compete one-on-one; and want to become the best student-athlete you can be…We will help you get there.
Before you can practice, you must turn in your 2011-2012 sports physical as well as signed parental consent and anti-steroid agreement forms. [all necessary forms are in the Forms section]
You will need a pair of wrestling shoes and headgear. Water bottles are highly recommended.
Unless otherwise noted, practices will be 3:45 – 5:30 PM Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; 3:45 – 6:00 PM Tuesdays and Thursdays; and 9:00 AM -12:00 PM on Saturdays.
