Dec. 1, 2012 – Lowell sent five of its six first-year wrestlers to the 2012 AAA Novice Wrestling tournament at O’Connell High School. Lowell wrestlers performed well with three of our competing five winning 2nd place medals.

We had just over seven weeks of practice to prepare these kids physically, technically, and mentally to compete in the sport of wrestling, and this annual tournament is the first opportunity most SF kids have to compete in the sport of wrestling.

Earning second place were:
Sasha Gonzales, sophomore – 120 lbs
Asa Jungreis, freshman – 126 lbs
Maxim Dzul, sophomore – 170 lbs

Also wrestling were freshman Herman Zeng who took 5th place at 113 lbs and freshman Kyle Li who put on a good performance at 126 lbs.

Next up is the Golden Gate Varsity Invitational at Washington on Saturday, Dec. 8. This is will be the first varsity competition of the season for a team with multiple returning section placers and a section champion.
