In its first competition of the season, Lowell sent ten wrestlers to the Prospect Invitational at San Rafael HS on Saturday, Dec. 7. For half of them, it was their first time ever competing in the sport of wrestling having just 1.5 months of of rigorous practice and conditioning under their belts to prepare them for combat.

Lowell faired well with three first place finishes, two second place finishes, and one third place finish.

Going undefeated and winning their weight classes were:

Sasha Gonzales (junior) – 120 lbs
Pryor Vo (senior/team captain) – 132 lbs
Rico Jaime (sophomore) – 152 lbs

For Rico, it was his first time ever competing.

Also placing in the top three were:

Rubin Girling (senior/team captain) – 2nd place, 160 lbs
Cris Sanchez (junior/1st year) – 2nd place, 195 lbs
Kevin Yang (senior) – 3rd place, 126 lbs

This was a job well done by the entire team!
